Naruto (ナルト) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. Based on a one-shot manga by Kishimoto that was published in the August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump.

The plot of the series centralizes on Naruto , a young orphan ninja boy who dreams of becoming the next "Hokage" (The leader and strongest ninja of the village he lives in) and the adventures that follow him on his quest to achieving his dream.
Well once again Kyou here and this time I will be doing a critique on Naruto.
Is no secret I'm not a fan of "Battle Manga" nor Shonen in general , and most of the times the problem I have with them is the repetitive..and I mean really repetitive :
- Bad guy appears
- Hero trains and beats the bad guy
- New bad guy appears
- Repeat
The method itself is not the problem , but after some time it gets dull and boring specially if the main focus tends to be the battle itself.
Not sure if I should laugh cause of the irony...or for the bad grammar |
Other problem I have with the series is the main character , like many other "Battle Manga" main characters Naruto is not to brilliant , often says the dumbest things around and it's used as comic relief..(not a very good one by the way..)
Another funny thing about Naruto is that of all the ninja theme series I have seen I could say this "Ninja" are among the worst. Ninja or Shinobi (however you would like to call them) are famous for being masters of stealth.
Done well~ |
Done wrong... |
As for the background story of the series , well for what I know and have researched there is not much that has been said about the world Naruto lives in..specially the time period they live in.
It's true the main focus of the series is the intense fighting and in some instances the "Eye Candy"
Which I go to admit excels in this type of series.
In the case of the art the series has a decent art , with a very solid shonen style that is nice for the viewer , but the most interesting thing about the art in Naruto is not the series art itself but what it has inspired over the years. Specially a certain scene that happened on the initial episodes.
Fan Girls...liked it... |
Just..no comments... |
Well to finish my critique , even if understand the method this type of manga/anime use , the target group they are aimed at , and the fact that the manga/anime skips most of the details for the action.
As one of the most popular Shonen and considered by many "The best Anime there is" it really lacks several things and details that many other Shonen and even "Battle Manga" do really well.
