Poses Canon DMS.

Poses:

The way we look at characters is different than how people that look at our work will see them, independently of the technique we use; artist, painters, etc  we all share a common problems:

  • The space we have to work is limited, there is a limit to how much space we can use on a sheet of paper or on a digital one.
  • We can't be next to each reader to explain them what exactly we meant with our work.
  • We are limited to show only specific moments in time.

Of course this doesn't mean that we have to work  exclusively with advanced techniques or difficult ones, we only need a bit of creativity  and never let those "limits" overwhelm us.

Keep in mind that is not only a matter of moving the body, you need to take into consideration your characters personality to know exactly which type of movements he/she would do.

This way you and my assistant can create poses for your own characters, once again I would like to remind you all that is not about talent. As long as you have a clear idea in your mind and know how to at least make drawing stick you are good enough to start drawing.
Be sure to check my other post so that you can see that drawing is not hard, but it takes time and effort.

Lastly I would like to add that facial expressions also count as a type of pose, to have a better grasp on how to draw poses; be sure to check references and study the way bodies move.
You can use any tool that you consider good for this task (toys, anime figures, friends, etc.), as long as is it effective for you.

Well that concludes today's post, if you would like to leave a suggestion, your opinion or thought; be sure to do it in the comment section. Remember to never limit yourself when drawing and I will see you all in another post, farewell.
