Perspective is what guides how things in reality and fiction look. They exists in everything and more than just the perception of the observer, they also exist in the form of expressions.
The importance of Perspective |
Scientifically speaking, perspective is formed by the horizon line and vanishing point element (there might be cases where there would be more than one vanishing point on the same perspective.)
An example of the use of perspective. |
Perspective in Last Shadow ch.2 |
The horizon line is located far as our eyes can detect and usually the vanishing point lies in this line, but there are exceptions. The horizon line marks our first limit, as the point of reference that we use when drawing.
The use of perspective when creating a character. |
The vanishing point: It is a point in space that helps us perceive space, give meaning and order to things that determines the direction of depth.
Perspective in Whisper ch.2 |
To put it simple, the vanishing point is where the lines intersect. Giving the viewer a perception of dept inside the drawing.
Perspective in a basic landscape |
The use of perspective might seem to only be used for making backgrounds or certain angle views for a certain scene. But believe it or not perspective lies in everything, from the most complex of backgrounds to the simplest of scenes. It's essential to learn how to use perspective and the different situations where it can be applied.
Also for all of you that have seen video tutorials or other post regarding this topic and are still wondering how to use it or even worse, "Why should you I use it?"
Have some Fan-Art to see why it is important. |
